Den Enghel is a bar and eetcafe on Zadelmakerstraat in Almere Stad, running since 2003. It is a brown cafe: dark wood, a long bar, a stamtafel for people who turn up on their own, and a terrace out front. The beer list is what it is known for locally, a changing selection well past the usual taps, with wine, cocktails, lunch plates and hot dishes beside it.
Almere has no gay bar of its own. Den Enghel is where the city's LGBTIQ+ community meets instead, and Roze50+ holds its monthly Regenboogborrel here, open to every age group and to anyone who wants to support the community.
The rest of the programme is what a neighbourhood cafe does. Bingo, a pub quiz, live music, and private parties either inside or out on the terrace. Parking is in the Schippersgarage nearby.
