About

For those navigating the vibrant nightlife of Paceville, the Michelangelo Club Lounge stands as a beacon of inclusivity. Located at the famous St Rita’s Steps in St Julian’s, this venue holds a special place in the Mediterranean queer scene as the island’s primary dedicated gay nightclub. Spread across two stylish levels, Michelangelo offers a versatile experience that caters to both high-energy party-goers and those looking for a more relaxed evening.

The club’s design features state-of-the-art sound and lighting systems that transform the dance floor into a high-octane arena. On the upper level, the atmosphere shifts slightly towards a sophisticated lounge and chill-out zone, perfect for socialising and enjoying a cocktail away from the main beat. The music policy is as diverse as its crowd, typically featuring a mix of house, circuit beats, and chart-topping pop hits.

Michelangelo is renowned for its themed events, which range from spectacular drag shows featuring local and international performers to specialised circuit nights and "Twink" parties. While it attracts a predominantly LGBTQ+ audience, the club is celebrated for its "all are welcome" philosophy, fostering a safe and friendly environment for locals and tourists alike. Whether you are beginning your night with a drink in the lounge or dancing until the early hours of the morning, Michelangelo remains the definitive destination for queer culture in Malta.

It's the only gay club in all of Malta. It's located in the party area. And since they are only the option for gays there they are overcharging the entry price. 15 euro with just 2 drinks, while all the other straight clubs are doing 10 euro. That's monopoly. It has a small dance floor and dark rooms. They have special nights on the weekends, but unfortunately during my visit there was nothing. They should lower the prices and do better events to attract clients. It was empty Vs the other clubs next to it.

Ughhh this used to be the place TO GO. All pub crawl would end here: straight, gay, no one cared.
Now it is a smoke den
If you want to smoke inside then go
I have made a few friends here before, but now it is out of the main walkway and just focused on overcharging and smoking inside so it is hard to see.
Good luck homies, be sure to spray your clothes when you get home.

This place could be great but has a few issues. Unfortunately it seems to smell everywhere (of the toilets when you enter through the corridor and of course in the toilets) and of mould and damp in the main room. Also unfortunately smoking is allowed inside and people smoke on the dance floor which both stinks and feels dangerous. The bar seems very understaffed with only ever 2 bartenders working even on very busy nights. The DJs were not too bad and played some good music at least.

The drinks were very poor — they tasted watered down. The entrance fee was €10 per person, which I find quite expensive for what this place offers. The music was extremely loud, and the toilets were in a disappointing condition. For the €10 entry fee, we didn’t even receive a drink. Definitely not worth it.

It is very difficult for me to describe this, but the comments made so far are well-founded. I gave the place a chance. Unfortunately, the problem is that there is nothing that is really worth going here for. The problem is not the staff, but the fact that it is a completely ordinary place, which you can get in a free club. The music is insanely loud, it's very dark almost everywhere. I don't recommend it. (you can see more in the video than I did when I took it)
