The LGBTIQ+ Hub in Paola is the state-run service centre for Malta's queer community, in the A3 Towers building on Triq l-Arkata. It holds a clinic, a counselling room, offices and a reception, and it was laid out so that people can use it discreetly.
Three services share the building. The Gender Wellbeing Clinic provides care for trans and non-binary people, with endocrinology, hormone therapy, voice therapy, psychiatric care and some surgical procedures, run on an informed consent basis under the WPATH standards adapted to Maltese law. Visits are by appointment and referrals come through a GP, nurse, psychologist, counsellor or social worker, on transhealthcare.health@gov.mt or +356 7950 0299. Vaginoplasty, phalloplasty, hair removal and facial surgery are not covered.
The LGBTIQ+ Wellbeing Service offers psychosocial support for LGBTIQ people and their families. Checkpoint Malta runs free community HIV testing here, with results in about twenty minutes, bookable on testing@checkpoint.mt. All of it is free of charge.
