Luclà is the only dedicated gay bar in Verona. It sits on a side street off Corso Porta Nuova, a few minutes from Piazza Bra and the Arena, and is a café through the day before it becomes a bar in the evening.
The place runs on its regulars. Coffee, aperitivo, cocktails later, and pavement seats outside that fill up first in warm weather. Live music and themed parties come round often enough that the bar keeps a set of them running as a small tradition, among them an Oktoberfest night and a summer flamingo party.
It calls itself a gay bar that is straight friendly, and the room reflects that: mostly gay men, with friends and neighbours alongside. For a visitor it is the practical place to start, in a city whose scene is small and spread out.
