About

Maurice is the oldest LGBTQIA+ group in Turin. It began in 1985, is federated to ARCI, and turned forty in 2026. Its seat is on Via Stampatori in the Quadrilatero Romano, and everything the circle does happens in that building.

The documentation centre is the part a visitor can simply walk into. It holds around 6,000 volumes, dozens of Italian and international journals, 300 videos and about 1,000 posters, more than 600 of them digitised, covering LGBTQ+ subjects, literature and gender studies in several languages. The archive keeps leaflets, photographs, pamphlets, badges and t-shirts, together with donated personal collections, among them one on homosexual believers that the circle calls probably the richest of its kind in Italy. The library has been part of Turin's civic library network since 2018, and there are study places as well as shelves.

Two of its services carry names of their own. Spo.T is a listening and support point for trans and non-binary people. Refugees is the group for LGBTQ+ migrants, asylum seekers and people holding international protection. There is also an antidiscrimination desk.

The rest is programme: talks, book presentations, film screenings, reading groups, exhibitions and training courses, week in week out through the year.
