White Cafe is a coffee bar on Via Genova, in the streets between Corso Italia and the waterfront. It works as a caffetteria through the day, does quick lunches and cold plates, and puts on music for the evening aperitivo.
It matters to queer Trieste because it hosts Queerida, the recurring LGBTQIA+ night run by the city's Arcigay committee, with a guest drag queen and a DJ set. Entry is free. The rest of the time it is an ordinary city-centre bar with a mixed crowd, and the queer nights are announced in advance rather than being a standing fixture.
Trieste has no permanent gay bar. A cafe that gives the community a regular date is a large part of what the scene here is built on.
