ONEWAY started in 1980 as a private room a group of friends wanted for themselves, at a time when that was the only way to have one in Italy. It became the gay disco of the Milan area and is still running, which makes it one of the oldest in the country.

The club is in Sesto San Giovanni, just past Milan's northern boundary, about twenty minutes by car from Porta Venezia and walkable from the Sesto Marelli metro. Inside there is a dancefloor, a bar and a smoking area with an outdoor part. The music is pop, and drag shows are a regular fixture rather than a special occasion.

An ARCO membership card is required and can be arranged at the club; the application goes through the committee, so it is worth sorting before you turn up. The club says Freddie Mercury and Elton John both came through in its early years.
