Binario 49 is a literary cafe in the Ospizio quarter, east of Reggio Emilia's centre, in a derelict building that an association took over and reopened as a cultural space. The programme is deliberately broad: theatre, live music, book presentations, dance evenings, photography shows, cookery courses and even astrophysics talks. A drinks and food counter opens alongside whatever is on.
The queer part of it is Queer Fatal, the LGBTQIA+ apericena that the city's Arcigay association runs here. It started in spring 2025 and has kept going roughly monthly through the season, mixing a shared dinner with drag shows and DJ sets. Booking is required, and part of the takings goes to a local rainbow housing project.
The rest of the time this is a mixed, mostly local room with a small bar and dancing on some nights. Nothing about it announces itself as a queer venue from the street.
