About

The Centro di Iniziativa Gay has been Milan's LGBTQIA+ association since 1985 and runs on more than four hundred volunteers. Its premises are on Via Bezzecca, near Piazza Cinque Giornate, and they are open to walk in rather than only to members.

What happens there covers most of what a community centre can: a helpline reachable by phone, chat and in person; free HIV testing and health information; counselling at subsidised rates; Italian courses and support for migrants seeking protection; sign language courses and a deaf group; separate groups for women, non-binary people, under-28s and older members; and a documentation archive of the Italian movement.

The association also co-organises Milano Pride and runs a discussion evening once a week that anyone can turn up to. If you are new in the city or need something more than a bar, this is where to start.
