Sui Generis is on the corner where Via Panfilo Castaldi meets Via Lecco, which puts it at the entrance to the Porta Venezia scene rather than in the middle of it. It describes itself as a street bar, and the street part is literal: most of the seating is outside.

Cocktails and aperitivo are the point, and the kitchen keeps going through the evening. Drag nights run regularly, announced on Instagram rather than on a fixed calendar. Booking a table is worth doing when a show is on.

The bar makes a point of not sorting its customers into categories, and the crowd reflects that: queer, straight, neighbours, people who wandered up from the metro.
