Locanda al Colle is a boutique guest house built out of a restored farmhouse in the hills above Camaiore, in Versilia, Tuscany, with views over the surrounding countryside and the coast. It has twelve rooms across three floors, from smaller standard doubles to two suites with two separate bathrooms, furnished with vintage and art deco pieces from the 1940s to the 1970s. Each floor has a shared living room and terrace.
There is a heated, open-air salt-water pool and a whirlpool set among olive trees, a garden with private outdoor seating, and an on-site kitchen with a chef who runs a weekly cooking class and cooks several dinners a week alongside breakfast. A private partnership with a nearby beach club gives guests a gazebo, a cabin, bikes and paddleboards. The house also offers professional dog care and an electric vehicle charging point.
The building runs on solar-heated water for the pool and the rooms, underfloor heating, wooden window frames with insulating glazing, and an osmosis filtration system instead of bottled water, alongside rainwater collection for irrigation. The house calls sustainability a daily practice rather than a policy.
It operates seasonally, from the end of March to October, and organises excursions to the Apuan Alps, the local marble quarries, wine tastings and boat trips.
