IGOR is one of the few bookshops in Italy given over to LGBTQ+ writing, and it has been running since 2007. The name is an acronym, International Gay Oriented References, and also the name of the owners' Jack Russell.
It sits inside Senape Vivaio Urbano, an urban plant nursery in the Pratello quarter, so the shop is a room among greenhouses and pot plants rather than a window on the street. The stock covers fiction and non-fiction, comics and graphic novels, photography, magazines, DVDs and gadgets, in Italian and in other languages, and it goes back a long way rather than stopping at what is new.
The shop doubles as an events space and hosts readings and book presentations.
