Brief Encounters is a cruise club with an adult store attached, in a unit on the Liosban Industrial Estate off the Tuam Road, north-east of Galway city centre. It opened in 2025 as the second branch of a business that started in Cork. There is no sauna and no bar licence here: it is a play space, and it calls itself one, for gay, bi and hetero singles, couples and groups.
The main room is a lounge of about 2,000 square feet with black sofas, low tables, coloured light and a mirror ball, and screens on the walls. Off it are private booths with glory holes, a sling room, three rooms for groups, cruising and dark areas, and two cinemas that show gay, straight and trans films. There are lockers to rent and a changing and make-up booth meant for trans visitors, cross-dressers and women.
The venue is adults only and open to everyone, though in practice most visitors are men. Entry is by day pass, which lets you leave and come back. The store sells toys, accessories and poppers.
