Mother started in June 2010 as a club night for Dublin's disco-loving queer crowd and has run ever since. Its home is Lost Lane, a basement venue off Grafton Street in Adam Court.
The music is electro and disco. Over the years the night has brought in international pop and drag acts, and it has grown well beyond the club: Mother programmes stages at Irish festivals, launched the Love Sensation festival, and puts on the Mother Pride Block Party at the National Museum of Ireland, the biggest annual Pride party on the island.
Entry is strictly 21 and over and ID is checked at the door. Mother describes itself as a room for the LGBTQ+ community, BIPOC people, allies and anyone else who wants to dance.
