Pennylane opened in January 2019 as the sister bar to PantiBar, two minutes away on the other side of Capel Street. It is the quieter of the two: a cocktail bar rather than a stage venue.
The room is small, the wall outside carries a painted Penny Lane mural, and the list runs to cocktails, gin and whiskey. DJs play regularly and there are themed nights, but the volume leaves room for a conversation.
It works as a first drink before the Capel Street bars fill up, or as a last one after.
