Hynes' Bar is a neighbourhood pub on Prussia Street in Stoneybatter, north of the Liffey and well outside the city-centre gay circuit. It is run by a queer couple and carries more rainbow flags than any venue in town.
The programme is aimed at its own regulars rather than at visitors: a queer film night, LGBTQ+ trad sessions, jazz, DJs, Pride parties. A door charge on some of those nights goes to LGBTQ+ charities.
The beer garden was extended recently and now carries a mural of three Irish singers. Food comes from a street-food kitchen, dogs are welcome, and Irish is spoken behind the bar, with a discount on a first drink for ordering in it.
