Brief Encounters is a cruise club and adult store on Connell Street, just off Lapps Quay and a short walk from the middle of Cork. It is the city's indoor cruising venue, and it is open to gay, bi and straight visitors, whether single, in a couple or in a group.
The play space runs to more than 4,000 square feet. There is a large lounge with mood lighting, two areas of private booths with glory holes, three group rooms including one fitted with a sling, and two cinemas. A changing and makeup booth is set aside for trans and female visitors, and lockers can be rented.
You go in through the adult store, which sells toys, lingerie and poppers. The building is easy to pick out from the street by the scrolling illuminated sign above the shop front. The same operator runs a second branch in Galway.
