Why Not is a cafe and bar on the Pest embankment at Belgrad rakpart, with a terrace looking across the Danube to Gellert Hill and the Liberty Bridge. By day it works as a cafe for coffee, sandwiches and pastries; in the evening it turns into a cocktail and drinks bar.
It is one of the longest-running gay-friendly spots in downtown Budapest and a listed Budapest Pride safe space. The crowd is mostly men, many in their thirties, though everyone is welcome. Regular nights include bingo and karaoke.
The bar is dog-friendly and sits within walking distance of the central Pest hotels and the Great Market Hall.
