Koukles is a drag cabaret in Koukaki, away from Gazi and away from the club strip, on the corner of Zan Moreas and Syngrou. It is run by trans women and the live show is the reason to come; the bar is secondary to it.
The room is done as a Berlin cabaret of the 1940s and 1950s, which is the club's own description of itself, and the acts are worked out in detail rather than thrown together. The space is small, so booking by phone is worth doing rather than turning up on a weekend.
It is widely counted as part of the city's LGBT+ history rather than only its nightlife, which is a fair reading of how long it has kept a trans-run stage going in Athens.
