Samis is one of the oldest gay bars in Greece, in Metaxourgeio near the main train station rather than in Gazi. It occupies a listed building of around 160 years and has seating out on the street.
It describes itself as iconic and nothing posh, and both halves hold. Weeknights are quiet and for talking; at the weekend there are parties and performances. The crowd is local and mixed across the LGBTQ, queer and trans communities rather than tourist-facing.
