About

The Queeres Zentrum Wiesbaden is the city's queer centre, on the grounds of the Walkmühle in the north-east of Wiesbaden. It calls itself the queer living room of Wiesbaden and describes its purpose as a safer space where people of any gender identity and sexual orientation can be themselves without explaining themselves first.

Alongside the drop-in there is counselling, a cultural programme and educational work, and most of the city's organised queer groups meet here. The rooms are stocked for staying rather than passing through: a lending library of novels, non-fiction, comics, children's and young adult books and photo books, a large collection of board games, a box of stims and fidgets, a button machine, a games console, and a gender-affirming fundus of aids for trans and non-binary visitors. The bathroom keeps hygiene and care products.

The centre moved into its permanent rooms on the same grounds in autumn 2026: 250 square metres with a divisible event room, two lounges furnished to different moods, the library, an accessible toilet and a larger kitchen. Nothing is a through-room any more, so a group meeting is not interrupted by people walking past. Outside there is a balcony, a patch of lawn and bicycle parking. The rooms are reached by stairs or by a fixed ramp.

Visitors do not have to be queer themselves. The centre asks only that people who come share its values and turn up in solidarity with the community.
