The Trend is a small bistro bar at the Römertor, in a side street off the Kirchgasse shopping street in the centre of Wiesbaden. It describes itself as a bistro bar for gays, lesbians and all open-minded people, and elsewhere as a place for LGBTQ+ and friends.
It is a smoking bar, which German licensing makes rare enough to be worth knowing before you go, and the door is 18 and over. Free WiFi runs through the city's Freifunk network.
Several of the other bars in Wiesbaden's gay scene have shut over the past few years, which leaves the Trend as the city's remaining gay bar. It is a place for a drink and a conversation at the counter, not a night out with a programme.
