The Heidekreis district holds its Christopher Street Day in Walsrode again this year. It is organised by Queer Heidekreis, a volunteer group working for queer visibility in this rural district between Hamburg, Bremen and Hanover.
The march gathers at Walsrode station and walks to the Stadtplatz on the river Böhme, where information stands and a stage programme take over. This year's motto calls for tolerance and acceptance and says the community will not fall silent again.
It is a small, local demonstration. The organisers expect a few hundred people, which makes it a very different day from the big city Prides.
