The UTOPIA Kiosk is a queer art and culture space with a bar, tucked into the ground floor of the Züblin car park in the middle of Stuttgart. It is run by the non-profit Projekt 100% MENSCH and works as a bar with a programme rather than a bar alone. Karaoke, an open stage, a book club, bingo, a stitch-and-bitch group, zine workshops, concerts and exhibition openings all happen in the same room.
There is no kitchen. The counter does coffee, fritz-kola and Spezi, regional beer from Schönbuch, Dinkelacker and Cluss, wine, sekt and spritz, longdrinks and a non-alcoholic house drink of its own.
It describes itself as a safer space, made with the people who use it rather than for them. Lesbian bar nights are a fixture, and the calendar takes in Trans Day of Remembrance and IDAHOBITA. Artists can apply through open calls to work and show there.
