The Jakob-Stube is a Kneipe, and it is firm about the word: not a bar, not a lounge, not a pub, not a bistro. It sits in a listed baroque house in the Leonhardsvorstadt, the old quarter below the city centre where most of Stuttgart's queer nightlife is, and it is small enough that people end up talking to each other.
It calls itself a small, comfortable Kneipe for everyone, and the regulars treat it as their living room. The staff say breaking stereotypes is part of the daily work. The neighbourhood is part of the point: the house describes it as a place where people stick together.
Smoking is allowed inside and entry is restricted to adults.
