Das Sarah is a women's cultural centre in Stuttgart-West and, by its own account and Wikipedia's, the oldest in Germany. It was founded in 1978 as an autonomous women's project on the Johannesstraße and has stayed there.
It is not a bar. The programme is readings, films, lectures, workshops, a library and pub quizzes, plus parties, including one it throws around CSD. There are standing groups that meet in the house, from handicraft to book circles.
Lesbian women took the house on early as a protected space and still make up a large share of who uses it. Organisers put that share at around 70 percent when the centre marked its anniversary, and the place has stayed a lesbian address in Stuttgart without ever being only that.
