Benno B. is a rustic beer pub on Franz-Mehring-Straße, a few minutes' walk from Schwerin's main station. It has been running since 1998 and is the only gay bar the city has left.
Beer leads the list, with wine and cocktails alongside. There is a dartboard, and on some nights music and dancing. The crowd is gay regulars plus a good number of straight locals from the neighbourhood, and nobody makes anything of it.
The pub describes itself as a place of comfort, hospitality and good spirits. It joins in with Schwerin's CSD every summer and lends its room to queer nights the rest of the year, karaoke among them. Bring cash, the bar takes no cards, and tables cannot be booked.
