A four-room guesthouse on a hillside above Nordrach in the Black Forest, built around a rose garden the owners have been developing for years. The property calls itself LGBTQ-friendly on its own site and welcomes guests of any orientation equally.
Each of the four rooms is named after a well-known garden designer and has its own balcony looking over the garden or the surrounding valley and forest, a king-size bed, and a bathroom either en suite or a few steps away. The largest, a junior suite, also has a bathtub, a desk and a smart TV.
Breakfast is served each morning with homemade jam, regional honey, fresh fruit and bread baked in the house's own oven. The garden itself, planted with around 900 roses in the style of English designers such as Gertrude Jekyll and Christopher Lloyd, is open to outside visitors as well as guests, and the house also offers picnics and garden tours.
The property is run as an adults-only retreat, without children, and is built for a quiet stay rather than an activity-packed one, though hiking trails start from the grounds and e-bikes can be hired.
