glitch is a queerfeminist bookshop in the Maxvorstadt, run by a collective of about thirty people on a voluntary basis. It exists because Germany's first women's bookshop, which stood here, was about to close in 2023 and a group of customers decided not to let the address go.
The stock is German, English, Spanish and French, chosen against heteronormative and binary thinking rather than to fill a shelf quota. The collective is open that the selection is an argument they keep having with themselves.
It is a shop but also a room: readings, talks and events run through the year, and the space is used as much for meeting as for buying.
