The Deutsche Eiche is an old Munich inn in the Gärtnerplatzviertel and one of the longest-standing gay meeting points in the city. It is a hotel, a restaurant and a sauna in one building, with 24-hour reception.
The restaurant serves Bavarian food on the ground floor and has a history that the house makes no secret of, Rainer Werner Fassbinder's circle among it. The roof terrace is one of the nicer places to sit in central Munich.
Hotel guests reach the Badehaus, the men's sauna at the back, directly from reception. The gay bars of the Glockenbachviertel are a few minutes on foot.
