The Ochsengarten opened in 1967 and was Germany's first leather bar. It is still on Müllerstraße, in the middle of the Glockenbachviertel, and it is still men only.
The room is dark and wood-heavy, with posters from leather and fetish bars across Europe on the walls, so it doubles as a noticeboard for what is happening in that scene elsewhere. There is a small back room. The house line is jeans, leather, uniform and rubber, but there is no dress code and the bar says every fetish is welcome.
Weekends get properly full. The city's tourism board notes that the bar survived the gentrification of the neighbourhood around it, and Freddie Mercury is part of the local lore here.
