Edelheiss is a small neighbourhood gay bar in the Glockenbachviertel, five tables and a few stools, with half-timbered walls, a wooden counter and a lot of kitsch on the shelves. A sign behind the bar reads "Bear crossing", which is a fair summary of the room.
The crowd is bears, mature men and their friends, and it is usually crowded, though the kind of crowded where people talk to each other. Schlager and oldies on the stereo, small plates and Brotzeit if you want to eat, and seating outside.
Traditional Bavarian dress is worn here without irony, and the place is at its fullest during Oktoberfest.
