a.cat is a collective-run bar and café on Herwarthstraße, in the building Münster knew for years as Leo:16. It calls itself a safer space and an explicitly political one. In practice that means drinks kept cheap enough that money is not the barrier, no obligation to order anything at all, and someone to talk to if a guest oversteps.
Münster lost its last dedicated gay bar in 2020, and a good part of what replaced it happens here. A monthly Queerbar is open to all genders, sexualities and identities. The house also hosts a regular meeting for trans, inter, non-binary, agender and questioning people, and an open meetup for bi, pan and other non-monosexual people.
The rest of the programme is talks, workshops and group meetings. Cash only, and there is seating outside.
