BOYS´n`BEATS is Magdeburg's club for gay men, lesbians and their friends, and it has been running for more than twenty years. Dancefloor, bar and seating fit into about 120 square metres, so this is a compact room rather than a warehouse floor.
The music runs from pop to techno depending on the night. Karaoke evenings and DJ sets are part of the regular programme, and the club takes bookings for private parties. There is a separate smoking lounge with its own lighting and proper seating, which few German clubs still bother with.
The house rule is stated plainly: anyone who brings good humour and tolerance is welcome, and hostility towards gay, bi or trans people is not. The club sits in Stadtfeld West, a little way out from the centre.
