Erotik-Shop No.1 sits on Kölnische Straße, a few minutes from Kassel main station. It calls itself the oldest porn cinema in the city, has been trading since 1970 and has been at this address since 1994.
The front is a shop. Behind it is the cinema: several rooms and cabins, glory holes, a sling room with screens, and what the venue calls its cruising landscape. There are lockers, the entrance is a side door rather than the shopfront, and there is parking on site.
The audience is mixed rather than exclusively gay, and singles, couples and groups all come. The venue states that LSBTIQ visitors are welcome and runs a gay cinema alongside the rest of the programme. Smoking is allowed throughout, which is worth knowing before you go.
