PrinzS calls itself the only queer bar in Karlsruhe. It sits on Zähringerstraße in the Innenstadt-Ost, a few steps off Fasanenplatz, and describes itself as a safe space where everyone can feel comfortable.
The drinks list is built around cocktails, with house-made syrups in flavours like matcha, popcorn and salted caramel next to the standards. A kitchen runs alongside the bar and the menu changes regularly, sometimes working through a country or a region for a week at a time.
What makes it a fixture rather than just a bar is the programme: drag bingo, a bear meetup, a puppy meetup, drag shows and its own run of events around Pride season. The crowd is mixed and the bar puts its own case plainly enough, saying it likes its cocktails strong and its people fabulous.
The bar has been going for around ten years, which for a queer venue in a city this size is worth saying.
