lauterjungs und -mädels is the queer association for Kaiserslautern and the wider Westpfalz. It was founded in 1998 and is run entirely by volunteers. Its groups meet in the pro familia rooms on Maxstraße, in the Pariserhof block near the centre.
The programme is a set of open meet-ups rather than a place you can drop into whenever you like: a café for 14 to 18 year olds, a trans* meeting, a games night, and a group for people over 40. Admission is free and nobody has to register or announce themselves in advance. Current dates are on the association's calendar.
It also runs the SCHLAU education project in schools, helps organise Pride Week Kaiserslautern, and belongs to the QueerNet Rheinland-Pfalz network. Kaiserslautern has very little bar scene left, so for a visitor staying a few days this is the most direct way into the local queer community.
