Friedrich Kaffee & Bar is a cafe-bar in Heidelberg's old town, just off Bismarckplatz, open from breakfast through to late at night. By day it serves coffee, breakfast and lunch, with the room settling into a bar in the evenings, a lounge-like interior of sofas and wooden tables.
On the last Thursday of every month, Friedrich turns into Queer Friedrich, a free queer bar night organised by Queer Play e.V., the association behind Heidelberg's own Queer Festival. It brings a changing line-up of DJs, snacks and drinks, and a crowd distinct from the bar's usual daytime regulars.
The rest of the time it operates as an ordinary neighbourhood bar and cafe, with a sister restaurant, FRiEDA, close by.
