About this Event
Erlangen's CSD starts and ends on the Schloßplatz, with a demonstration through the city centre in between and a street festival on the square afterwards. It draws people from across the Nuremberg, Fürth and Erlangen conurbation rather than from the city alone.
The motto is "laut.stark.queer." and the organisers attach three demands to it: an explicit extension of Article 3 of the German constitution, permanent public funding for queer counselling centres and community spaces, and effective measures against hate crime.
One house rule is worth knowing before you pack: national flags and national symbols are banned at every event of the CSD this year.
The association behind it runs the queer centre in Erlangen and fills the weeks before the demonstration with a poetry slam, a drag brunch, bingo, a motorcycle ride, a queer church service and a free sexual health testing session.
