About

The Queeres Zentrum opened in September 2021 and is the only queer centre in Thuringia. It sits on Johannesstraße with the door round the corner on Waldenstraße, and it runs on three things: counselling, education and somewhere to simply be.

Most of what happens there is open groups anyone can walk into. There is a meeting café with the centre's queer library, a monthly Sunday brunch, an international games night in several languages, a pen and paper group, a creative group, queer gardening and a bouldering group. The support side covers a trans and non-binary self-help group, one for asexual and aromantic people, a polyamory Stammtisch, a rainbow families group with childcare, Zwischenraum for queer Christians, and Kinky in Erfurt as a sex positive space. There is a separate youth group.

Counselling is free and covers queer, trans and inter specific questions. The education work goes out to schools and institutions across the state. TIAM e.V. shares the premises.

For a visitor this is the place to ask what is actually on. Erfurt has no permanent gay bar, and most of the city's queer nightlife runs as party series hosted in other venues, so the calendar here is more use than any fixed address.
