Saxxim opened in October 2018 on Görlitzer Straße, inside what Dresden calls the Bermuda triangle of the Neustadt, where the nightlife runs into the daytime streets. Its Instagram describes it simply as the LGBTQ bar of the Neustadt.
Cocktails are the thing, along with draught beer, coffee and small snacks. The music runs from rock and pop through the hits of the eighties, nineties and two thousands to the current charts. Dogs are allowed and there is live music some nights.
The bar's own site takes an open line rather than a scene one, saying everyone is welcome regardless of origin, age or way of life. It is among the highest rated bars in the city.
