caféplus is the event café of aidshilfe dortmund, near the Gnadenort in the city centre. It began as a meeting place for people living with HIV and their friends, and since 2017 it has also been an open room for the LGBTIQ community in Dortmund.
The programme is queer and mostly volunteer-run: a queer counter evening, a queer brunch that is close to fully vegan, a queer book club, readings, a queer poetry slam and karaoke. Its own line is from the community for the community.
The building holds the café itself, a seminar room, counselling rooms and a smaller group room. It is also an information point on HIV and sexual health, and the rooms can be booked. It opens for events rather than as a walk-in café, so check the programme before going.
