Wirtshaus fesch am Kirchsteig

Restaurants | Bars in Dießen am Ammersee, Germany

About

Wirtshaus fesch am Kirchsteig is a Bavarian pub in the St. Georgen part of Dießen, up the hill from the Ammersee. The building had been empty for months when the people behind Munich's Wirtshaus fesch took it over and reopened it in November 2025.

Nothing on the sign or on the website says queer. The company behind it does: the operator is registered as Queer & Bier GmbH, the same one that runs Fesch on Müllerstraße in the Glockenbachviertel, which calls itself a queer Bavarian Wirtshaus. The operators say they are known in the area as queer hosts and that the local community has taken to the house.

Three Stubn seat about 90 people between them and there is a fireplace. The beer garden holds around 200 and runs the traditional way: you order drinks at the counter, food is brought to the table, and you may bring your own food. The kitchen cooks Bavarian with regional suppliers, and vegetarian and vegan dishes are on the regular menu. Beer comes from Augustiner, Kühbach and Maisach, the wines are mostly organic.

The first floor holds the Veronika-Fitz-Saal, a hall used for concerts, cabaret, stand-up comedy, readings and private celebrations. Three free car parks sit within a few hundred metres of the door, and Dießen has its own station on the Ammersee railway.
