About this Event
Darmstadt's Christopher Street Day gathers on the Karolinenplatz and goes from there onto the streets, with a festival site and a stage after the demonstration. The 2026 edition drew 6,000 to 7,000 people by police count, which for a city of this size is a lot.
It is put on by the queer association that runs the city's community work the rest of the year, with a working group and well over a hundred volunteers on the day. Planning for each edition starts in the autumn before it and the association holds open taster meetings for anyone who wants to help.
The day covers Darmstadt and the surrounding area rather than the city alone, and it usually comes with a Pride week around it. Neither the motto nor the programme for this edition has been published.
The Karolinenplatz is in the north of the city centre, by the Landesmuseum, and is a short walk from the Luisenplatz where the trams meet.
