QUEENS calls itself the oldest, best known and most popular gay bar in Bremen, and by the standards of a city with a small scene that is not much of a stretch. It sits on Außer der Schleifmühle, a couple of streets from FRIENDS.
The room is 1970s retro on purpose: plush, tinsel, warm light, a bar that looks like a film set. It is a smoking bar, over 18 only. The adjoining Tom's Welt is where the dancing and the cruising happen, and the two work as one venue on a busy night.
The bar describes its crowd as deliberately wide, gay and bi men alongside trans, lesbian and straight guests, and older regulars alongside a young international crowd. Weekends run very late.
