About this Event
Bernau bei Berlin holds its fourth Christopher Street Day, under the motto "Mehr Glitzer, weniger Hass! L(i)eb doch, wie du willst!", which is to say more glitter, less hate, and love however you want to.
It gathers on the forecourt of Bernau station, under the railway bridge, for an opening rally, and the demonstration then moves through the town centre. This is a street demonstration with speeches, banners and music rather than a parade of floats, which is what most of the smaller Brandenburg CSDs look like.
The edition was originally set for the summer and called off at short notice when an official heat warning put the forecast close to forty degrees. The organising alliance moved it into the autumn rather than dropping it, so this is the postponed day and not a second event.
Bernau sits at the northern end of the Berlin S-Bahn, roughly half an hour out of the city on the S2 or the RE3, and the trains arrive at the station where the demonstration begins.
