Artemis Books is the first queer and feminist bookshop in Aachen, a small shop on Kleinmarschierstraße a few streets south of the cathedral. About half the stock is fiction with queer content, in German and in English, and it is shelved by theme rather than by publisher, so browsing works differently here than in a general bookshop.
Since 2026 the shop shares its rooms with the Queer Community Book Space, carried by the association Fachstelle Sexualität und Vielfalt. That brought readings, workshops, discussion evenings, peer support and open meet-ups into the same space. The bookshop stayed independent alongside it.
There is coffee and vegan food, and the shop was among the bookshops recognised by the Deutscher Buchhandlungspreis for 2025. It came close to closing before the community arrangement was put together, which is worth knowing if you are deciding where to spend your money in Aachen.
