Villa Ragazzi is a men-only gay guesthouse at Uchaud, on the flat farmland between Nîmes and Montpellier. It calls itself one hundred per cent gay and one hundred per cent male, and naturism is permitted anywhere on the property.
There are five bedrooms and a studio, each with its own way in from the garden rather than off a corridor. The garden is the point of the place: a pool of more than a hundred square metres, a jacuzzi that takes five, a sauna, and loungers in the shade.
The house cooks. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are all served on site, and the evening meal is a table d'hôtes the house sits down to together. There is a bar for wine and cocktails, massages can be booked, and the house will collect guests from the station or the airport.
Day passes are sold to people who are not staying, which puts the pool and the sauna within reach for an afternoon. The Espiguette naturist beach and the walled town of Aigues-Mortes are both a short drive south.
