About

La Station is the LGBTI centre for Strasbourg and the wider Alsace region, on Rue des Écrivains in the old town. The association was founded in 2009 and the premises opened two years later, after an assault in the city pushed the local groups into working together.

It is a place to walk into rather than a bar. There is a cafe corner, a media library of more than two thousand books and documents on gay, lesbian, bi, trans and intersex subjects, an exhibition space, and rooms that other associations and collectives use for their own meetings.

The centre runs a listening service, free legal advice and health information, and it does schools and workplace awareness work across the region. Alongside that there are regular social evenings: discussion coffees, board games and drinks for people who want to meet others.

Allies and people who are not LGBTI are welcome, which the centre states plainly. It is the obvious first stop for anyone arriving in the city who wants to find the scene rather than just a bar.
