Les Geais is a chambre d'hôtes in the hamlet of Les Chaumes de Péré at Saint-Pierre-la-Noue, near Surgères, between La Rochelle and Rochefort and on the edge of the Marais Poitevin. It is run by a married couple, and English is spoken as readily as French. The house once belonged to an aunt of one of the hosts and has been renovated since 2019; the name comes from her favourite bird, the jay.
There are three en-suite rooms, each in its own style and each named after a bird. Geais is rustic and warm, Hoopoes is done in sunflower colours, and Swallows is the largest, with a double-height beamed ceiling, a king-size bed and a bathroom with a freestanding bath and a large shower.
There is a pool with a relaxation area, and the hosts share a guest lounge and kitchen area with visitors.
